What color of the balcony railing?

When choosing a balcony railing, we want to match it as best as possible to the existing facade of the house and the space around it. That is why it is so important to choose the right material from which our balcony railing will be made. When choosing modern balcony railings, the choice is often made of stainless steel, and in this case we are not talking about the color, but only the choice of the finish of the railing. It can be a polished or matte finish. If we focus on glass, the choice is also limited, although it is worth mentioning that glass blends in best with other colors and patterns. Additional materials for the railing can be steel or wood, here we can freely choose the color for our railing from the available palettes. However, it should be remembered that painted surfaces always require more attention and more frequent renewal while using them.

What height of the railing on the balcony?

In addition to the additional decorative function, the balcony railing is to ensure the safety of the household members. That is why the building regulations precisely define the height range that the balcony railing should have. Its minimum height for single-family houses is 0.9 m. For multi-family buildings or health care facilities, a railing with a height of at least 20 cm higher must be installed. So it must reach a height of 1.1 m. It is important here that the measured height is not the height of the post in the balustrade, but the actual height of the entire balustrade. Also, the use of modern glass elements on balconies requires compliance with these heights and the installation of the glass plate in such a size as to achieve the dimensions of the balustrade in accordance with the construction law. Properly prepared glass sheets can be placed in profiles or frames specially prepared for this task, or by using point fittings. Regardless of the chosen technology, we are legally obliged to comply with the minimum dimensions that must be met by balcony railings and terrace railings.
